NAME
Edwards, Colorado, named for a Colorado State Senator back in the 1800's.

Ranges from approximately 7,200 feet.
CLIMATE
Located down valley from the major Vail Valley resorts, the lower elevations of
Edwards have milder winters, and spring comes earlier in the year. The higher elevations
of Edwards have a high-alpine climate similar to the higher elevations of the Vail
Valley.
POPULATION
The Edwards area is sparsely populated, and the combined permanent, year- round
population of Edwards and Lake Creek is approximately 8,500 residents.
GOVERNMENT
Edwards is an unincorporated section of Eagle County. A five-member elected Metro
Board oversees emergency services, water, administration and legal assistance while
Eagle County provides additional services such as infrastructure, police and transportation.

MEDICAL FACILITIES
Edwards Medical Center, a branch of the Vail Valley Medical Center, features an
emergency walk in facility and brings health care closer to home. The summer of
2001 brought the completion of the Harold W. and Mary Louise Shaw Regional Cancer
Center.
AMENITIES
There are three shopping areas (Riverwalk, the Corner at Edwards and the Edwards
Business Center) where you can easily shop-til-you-drop. The summertime Farmers
Market has become a tradition for local produce and crafts. Also enjoy our Riverwalk
Movie Theatre, Starbucks and huge variety of restaurants. Freedom Park, fly-fishing,
kayaking, access to back country trails for year-round recreation and horseback

There is bus service from Edwards to Vail, Avon and Beaver Creek.
